Technopolis in Delft
Technopolis is located in the south-east corner of the city of Delft, directly adjacent to the campus of TU Delft. The area is surrounded by the greenery of Midden-Delfland on the south side, the A13 motorway, TU Delft in the north and the Schieoevers industrial estate in the west. Delftech Park, a High Tech industrial estate, is situated nearby. These locations jointly constitute the Technological Innovative Complex Delft, a spatial-economic concept which the municipality of Delft plans to develop and realize further in the coming years. Science Port Holland NV will make an active contribution towards this.
Technopolis is intended for knowledge-intensive companies active in sectors relating to the scientific research of TU Delft.
The ambition is to transform Technopolis into one of the top locations for Research & Development in Europe.
Future vision
Linked to the expertise of TU Delft, the area will be developed into an engine for R&D activities and High Tech production. The cooperation between knowledge institutions and companies is central and will be actively promoted to generate synergy. This is done in diverse ways, including the creation of attractive meeting places for the employees in the area.
The planned area has a predominantly green campus-like feel with an important role for recreational and commercial facilities such as a brasserie-style café, restaurants, supermarket, child care facilities and fitness centre. A Business-Science Centre (conferences, exhibitions) and a hotel are also planned. Sustainability is an important priority in the area, as is evident from e.g. the Heat-Cold Storage System.
