The development and reputation of Science Port Holland stand to benefit strongly from the presence of scientific research institutes. Science Port Holland is seeking, in close cooperation with Delft University of Technology and Erasmus MC, to play an active role in the acquisition strategy, for instance by assisting with the preparation of bid books. The focus in the short term will be on the following three institutes.

• Institute for Sustainable Process Technology (ISPT), a new initiative that fits in well with the ‘Clean Tech’ strategy and partnership.
• Netherlands Institute for Space Research SRON of the NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research), a space research institute and coordinator for ESA programmes
• Water Knowledge Centre, an initiative of e.g. the City of Delft, Delft University of Technology, the Water Board and Deltares.

The exploratory study into location opportunities for other institutes will be continued with both universities.
